About Netball

Netball is the world's most popular team sport for women, and is played in

over 70 countries by over 7 million people. Although Netball is more popular in Commonwealth countries, it actually got its beginnings in the United States as women's basketball in 1895.

Netball is a fast, skilful, non-contact sport with seven people on each team. At Checkers Netball Club we train and play indoors and usually have one to two reserves per team meaning everyone gets a good opportunity for court time.

Unlike basketball each individual player is only allowed in certain areas of the court and only two people in each team are able to shoot goals.

To learn more about Netball rules, visit the International Federation of Netball Associations.

Contact us or visit one of our weekly Checkers Netball Club training sessions to get involved.
